Uniform & Team History
This is an actual road uniform worn in the big leagues by Newton, Mass., native Jim Corsi, who pitched for his hometown Red Sox from 1997 to 1999. Corsi pitched 10 seasons in the big leagues and was a member of the 1989 World Series champion Oakland A’s. After his career ended, Corsi became the first former Red Sox player to play in the Oldtime Baseball Game, making appearances in 2002 and ’03.
Oldtime Game History
Following a long battle with cancer, Jim Corsi died on January 4, 2022. To honor his memory, Jim’s son, Joey Corsi, was invited to play in the 2022 Oldtime Baseball Game. A member of the Bellingham High School baseball game, Joey wore a Red Sox home uniform used by his dad, and in his first at-bat he went up against a pitcher — Evan Moore of Boston College — who was wearing this road Red Sox uniform that was used by Jim Corsi. Both uniforms were loaned to the Oldtime Baseball Game by the Corsi family.
The 2022 Oldtime Baseball Game was played as a fundraiser for the Jimmy Fund in memory of Jim Corsi.
