Uniform & Team History

Hall of Fame catcher Roy Campanella played eight seasons with this Negro Leagues team before joining the Brooklyn Dodgers. His best season with the Elite Giants was in 1944, when he led the Negro National League in hitting with a .388 average. He hit two home runs in the 1955 World Series to help Brooklyn to its only championship.

Oldtime Game History

Josh Klimkiewicz, having just graduated from Buckingham Browne & Nichols School, was added to the roster hours before the 2001 Oldtime Baseball Game; wearing this uniform, he emerged as co-MVP. He also wore it in 2002 after completing his freshman year at Harvard. He went on to play professionally for the independent El Paso Diablos. Matt Morizio of Northeastern University, who wore it in 2004 and ’05, was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 2006.
